Wood StainingWE GO TO GREAT LENGTHS FOR YOUR SPACE TO REACH IT FULL POTENTIAL
Wood is one of the most gorgeous materials you can have in your home. The organic look of the grain adds depth and texture wherever it is, and it adds a natural feel to any space. The shape and style of wood is absolutely unique, because no two trees are alike; wood is also a renewable resource and with proper forestry techniques, it can be sustainable. All of these factors make wood special, and if you have wood in your house, it should be well cared for; we can help.

Wood staining is a practice almost as old as time; all wood is porous, so mineral oils can be used to imbue the wood with colour and richness. Softwoods are particularly easy to stain, but all kinds of wood can be stained with the right stain and technique. Wood stains are particularly useful for adding colour to wood, as opposed to paint, because the colour is absorbed into the wood; this allows the natural grain to show, which an ordinary paint would obscure.
Caution must be taken when staining wood; it’s not called a “stain” by accident, and once it’s done, you can expect it to last. That means an improperly applied stain will be there permanently; the last thing you want is a beautiful piece of furniture or wall ruined by a bad stain! Preparation must also be done cautiously; wood is porous, so it must be sealed to avoid rapid decay because of moisture and spillage. |
At Madani Group, we’ll take all the steps to make sure your wood staining is done right, because we believe if it’s not done right it shouldn’t be done at all. We’ll start by removing the sealant on the wood, so that the stain can be properly absorbed. While we do this, we’ll make sure to remove any blemishes, fill any scratches and create a surface conducive to an even stain. We’ll clean off all of the sawdust that comes off the surface because of the prepwork, and then we’ll apply a pre-stain conditioner that will help the stain apply more evenly.

Next, we’ll apply the stain. Stains are wonderful, because they come in a wide variety of colours; you can opt for a stain that enhances the natural look of the wood, or you can go for something a bit more outré, like purple or blue. We’ll apply the stain carefully, making sure it’s an even colour throughout the wood. Once this work is complete, it’s important to reseal the wood so it regains its water-resistant qualities.
